No. Weimaraners actually make very good family pets. Socialization and training from a young age will assist in minimizing aggressive tendencies that this breed naturally has.

Young weimaraners, however, may be unsuitable for families with very young children because of their highly energetic movements. They are exceptional athletes and seem to have a hard time containing their energy inside the home.

For example, visit a construction site that is nearby, a parking lot with lots of activity and parked cars, or even the outskirts of a school yard. By giving your aggressive weimaraner lots of new experiences with you at his side, your pet will discover the world around him.

He will learn to enjoy new experiences instead of fearing them. Fearing the unknown stresses a dog and tends to encourage aggressive tendencies.

No. Leaving him outside all day alone is not a good idea. A weimaraner dealing with separation anxiety can be a very aggressive weimaraner. It is better if the day can be broken up with a family member or friend spending time or playing with your dog for a short time.

It is best if your dog can stay inside with either a television or radio on.

Ensuring your dog gets some strenuous exercise before you leave for the day will help with your dog’s anxiety. Make sure he has chew and play toys to keep him occupied and busy. This should also minimize his separation anxiety.
