Aggressive Boston Terrier – Lively and Adaptable

If you are looking for a good overall family watchdog, the aggressive boston terrier might be the dog you are looking for. Although originally bred for fighting, the boston terrier is an intelligent, tolerant, and easily trained dog who enjoys spending time with his owners.

What Is Considered Aggressive Behavior?

An aggressive boston terrier will constantly bark, lunge, and dance around whatever is bothering it. It may growl, snap, nip, or bite.

While a boston terrier is usually very tolerant and welcoming of people and other animals, this breed does need to be thoroughly socialized through meetings with people, other animals, and experiences beyond the home.

Bostons inherently think of themselves as bigger dogs than they really are and have no problem trying to assert themselves with larger dogs. They like to bark and can be stubborn and willful. Without proper socialization, these characteristics can lead them to trouble.

Having an owner who establishes himself as the dominant player in the household will keep an aggressive boston terrier in check.

Do They Have Specific Needs?

Boston terriers do need to be socialized to keep them even tempered and adaptable. The more people they meet, the more animals they are introduced to and play with, and the more places they visit will all have an impact on how socially happy your dog will be.

New situations can stress some dogs if they have not been introduced to new experiences on a regular basis. Stress and nerves can lead to having an aggressive boston terrier.

Bostons are chewers and will require a variety of chew toys for them to play with. Unlike some breeds that have favorite toys and keep them for years, the boston terrier tends to go through chew toys at a fast rate. If chew toys are not available, they will chew anything that fits into their mouth.

This breed needs moderate exercise and adapts well to most environments he is placed in. A boston terrier can be very energetic when the times calls for it. However, when calm and laid back is called for, this dog will be right there on the couch watching television with his owners.

Brisk walks, an occasional swim, and runs at a local park or ball field are all that is needed for this low maintenance dog.

Basic training is essential to this breed as they can be stubborn and willful. However, because they are extremely intelligent, a reward and praise training program works much better for them than restraint collar training. They are very eager to please, patient, and adaptable.
